Moreover, the Rebaño Sagrado squared off FC Bayern Munich in a pre season fixture on January 14 in 1971, when the German side got the triumph in the penalty shootout (5-4). Chivas also met Dundee United and AS Roma in 1987, resulting the winner in both matches.
In addition, Chivas took part in the 1994 Tecate Cup to play the historic Milan clubs; Internazionale and AC Milan. Chivas would win the two matches too. Besides, the Special One Football Club faced Spartak Varna in 1998 in Jalisco, getting a positive 2-1 result.
More recently, Guadalajara based team Chivas got back on track against European sides to play various of the greatest clubs such as FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. One of the special victories for the Mexican team was in 2011 when they topped FC Barcelona 4-1 under a sensational performance from Marco Fabian.
